Use this tool for a preliminary material-cost estimate. Enter the actual quoted price per kilogram and a density appropriate to the specified alloy. It does not include fabrication, coating, packaging, freight, duties, taxes or supplier minimum charges.

Calculation method

Net weight (kg) = thickness × width × length × density ÷ 1,000,000. Estimated purchase weight = net weight × (1 + cutting loss ÷ 100). Estimated material cost = purchase weight × price per kg.

Cutting loss is project-specific. Replace the default with a value based on your nesting plan, blank layout and supplier's charging method.
